Adult Learners

I was terrified to send an email to Lydia because I couldn’t even type it out. I am good at technology and successful in my job. But, I want to learn to read so I can read my son’s books to him before he can read them to himself.

How jump sessions work

You’ll join a session by video call, with a small group of adult learners who are in the exact position you are. No judgement, just support and structure that will change your life.

1. Remote but together

All sessions are video calls so you can join us from the comfort of home.

It might sound scary but you’re about to meet a wonderful new group of your reading peers.

The support you give each other will transform your reading journeys.

2. Run by professionals

The sessions are run by a highly trained and empathetic Jump interventionist.

You’ll never have to wonder what happens next or why.

3. Progress at your own pace

There’s no pressure to progress as fast as the quickest learner in the group.

No one is left behind.

We’re vulnerable together and supportive without fail.

4. Celebrations guaranteed

The Jump method is like nothing you’ve ever seen.

You’ll be blown away by your progress and we all take time to celebrate every win no matter how small.

Our interventionists

Our interventionists (teachers) are trained specialists that can’t wait to meet you. You might feel nervous at first, but you’ll find that they are excited you’re here, they don’t mind mistakes and they already believe you’re smart and capable.

Resources for adults

When you enroll in a group we’ll share a number of useful resources so you can practice on your own. In the meantime, you can also access the following free resources via the Jump blog. We hope you find them useful.

  • A man with a beard and mustache, wearing a gray shirt, sits outdoors with his chin resting on his hand, gazing directly at the camera.

I am tired of knowing that I don’t know how to read. It’s a problem. I am just tired of trying to hide it! I want to fix it. I want to figure it out. Now, I know why things are spelled the way they are. This class has helped a lot, especially in my career.

    - Railroad engineer and adult learner

  • A woman with short hair sitting by a window, looking outside. She is wearing a gray shirt and a necklace with a cross pendant.

Growing up homeschooled, I now see that my mom’s teaching makes sense. Back then, I gave up. Now, I’m this class. They teach in a very specific way. The way they say things, helps lock it in your brain. I am now confident I will be able to help my children with school work and am excited to read to my children.

    - Actress, new Mom, and adult learner

  • Man standing indoors, light-filled room with plants and wooden ceiling beams.

I wanted to pass the real estate exam but didn’t have the reading skills. After awhile, this class helped me make sense of things and reading became much easier. I gained confidence and courage to take the exam again. I passed! I now have a job in real estate. This class changed my life.

    - Real estate agent and adult learner

  • A person with dark hair tied up, wearing a black top, standing in a kitchen with utensils and a refrigerator in the background.

In this class, I learned why I'm struggling. I now understand not only how to read, but also about being dyslexic. I have seen such a huge difference in my reading but also my confidence. The only thing I've done differently in my life is this class. I have learned to read with confidence!

    - New Mom and adult learner

  • Smiling person in a pink shirt standing in the entrance of a cluttered garage.

My wife died, and she handled my business’s paperwork. I need to be able to read to keep running my business.

    - Business owner and adult learner

  • Woman in a yellow sweater holding a floral mug, looking out a kitchen window with daffodils on the counter.

I have taken other classes before. This class is different. It helps with reading aloud and spelling. It teaches spelling rules and gives me the reason why words are spelled they way they are. I used to hid my dyslexia. And now, no hiding from reading!

    - College grad, new mom, and adult learner
